Anthony F. “Tony” Pourhassan
Founder and Principal of Highlight Homes
Anthony “Tony” Pourhassan was inspired to build things from a very young age. By the time he took shop class at Capital Hills Jr. High School, Tony already knew what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Tony went on to receive his Bachelors Degree of Science in Architecture, with a minor in Structural Engineering from Auburn University – and he’s been building houses, a successful career, and a solid reputation ever since. Today, Tony is a highly achieved business executive with expertise in land development, residential and commercial construction, project management, strategic land planning and multi-site supervision.
In 2005, Tony launched Highlight Homes, LLC to bring something entirely new to the Atlanta residential construction market. To date, Tony has built more than 800 Single Family Homes and more than 200 Townhomes across 20 subdivisions in the great state of Georgia. While he has been instrumental in the development of 12 communities throughout Metro Atlanta, his truest passion lies in crafting one-of-a-kind custom homes that are as distinctive and individual as the people who live there.
In addition to building his company, Tony has taken steps to streamline his industry by successfully implementing cost code accounting to accurately track construction & development costs, spearheading green building & development programs, and assembling countless talented teams to take projects from concept to successful completion. Tony is also no stranger to working with public officials, lawyers, residents & engineers to rezone property, acquiring & assembling due diligence materials to secure equity investors and bank loans for company projects, and partnering with local schools, charities & civic organizations to raise money or donate labor & materials to give back to the community. The recipient of countless awards for his designs, Tony is a Certified Professional Home Builder and is a member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, the National Association of Home Builders, the National Association of General Contractors and the US Green Building Council.
Commitment to Quality Construction and Environmental Responsibility
We suppose you could say that the folks at Highlight Homes are all “outdoorsy” types. Not only do we love what we do for a living, we especially love the fact that most of what we do takes place in the Great Outdoors. When we’re not working, chances are we’re playing in the woods or fishing on a river somewhere. It’s never lost on us that the materials we use to build, including the very framework with which we base our homes or home additions, are among some of the Earth’s most precious natural resources. With our combined love of building fine homes and doing our part to protect the environment, Highlight Homes is most proud of our distinction of being a Green Builder. Aside from the great care we devote to developing special communities featuring an abundance of beautiful Green Space, Highlight Homes also places a major emphasis on designing homes and home additions that reduce energy consumption and material waste. We place products that aid in less energy consumption in every home we build, and all construction debris is disposed of through recycling. The benefit to the homeowner is found not only in their utility bills, but also in the comfort, durability and air quality of their home – effectively enhancing their quality of life.
Our dedication to developing our own Earth-friendly initiatives and carefully following green building guidelines are an important piece of what sets us apart from other Atlanta builders. In order to become a certified Green Builder, certain criteria must be met and recognized by third-party certification programs such as Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Program, Energy Star and Earth Craft House. Highlight Homes has certifications from all four of these nationally and regionally recognized programs.
Community Involvement: Georgia Redevelopment Foundation
Georgia Redevelopment Foundation – the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of Atlanta-based Highlight Homes – was first founded upon the concept of helping those in need. It began simply – inspired by a string of natural disasters. Devastated by the sight of homes destroyed or damaged by a series of tornadoes and floods, Highlight Homes’ founder, Tony Pourhassan, felt compelled to use his own passion and professional aptitude to help the victims rebuild their lives. In the years since the launch of Georgia Redevelopment Foundation, it has grown to encompass senior citizens and military veterans whose homes are in need of repair or renovation to accommodate their requirements, whether due to a disability or deteriorating health.
